Our methodology
JustBooking uses a structured approach to find, classify and present booking routes for a property you have already chosen.
How AI supports the final booking check
JustBooking uses a combination of search, structured data, matching logic and AI-assisted analysis to support the final booking check.
At a high level, the process is designed to:
- Understand the stay the traveller has submitted
- Identify useful signals such as property name, location, descriptions, images, dates and source domain
- Search for legitimate matching routes
- Classify routes as official site, direct owner, local manager or OTA
- Identify possible reasons to check each route, such as price, cancellation, loyalty, direct perks, local support or familiar platform benefits
- Present the results with confidence labels and caveats
AI is used to assist with understanding, matching and explanation. It does not replace the traveller's judgement. Results are best-effort and may not be exhaustive. Travellers should always check the final price, fees, cancellation terms, payment terms and site legitimacy before booking.
The traveller chooses the stay. JustBooking helps check where to book it.
AI-assisted search, matching and route analysis - applied at the moment the task is specific enough to support a practical decision.
JustBooking helps check. You choose where to book.
How we define booking routes
A booking route is a legitimate place where the same hotel, room, rental, villa, cottage or apartment may be booked or checked. Routes fall into four types:
- Direct / Official: the hotel's own website or booking engine, or a branded hotel group site where the hotel can be booked directly.
- Owner-direct: a site operated directly by the rental property owner, separate from any OTA or management company.
- Local manager: a local agency or property management company that handles bookings for the property on the owner's behalf.
- OTA: an online travel agency such as Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, Vrbo or Agoda.
How we classify routes
Classification uses a combination of signals:
- Domain signals: known OTA domains, hotel brand domains, owner-site patterns and booking engine providers.
- Page content signals: property name, location, images, description snippets, amenities, room or rental details, and ownership indicators on the page.
- Confidence scoring: each classified route is assigned a confidence level based on how many signals align. A strong classification comes from several consistent signals across domain and content.
No single signal is conclusive. Users should always verify that a result is for the exact property before booking.
How we surface benefits
JustBooking may identify possible route benefits from signals on the booking page or from known route characteristics. Benefit types detected include:
- Cancellation signals: free cancellation, flexible terms or pay-later options.
- Loyalty signals: points earning, loyalty discounts or member rates.
- Direct perk signals: breakfast inclusion, parking, flexible check-in or rate match.
- Payment signals: pay at property, instalment options or payment protection notes.
Benefits are noted where detected, not guaranteed. Users must verify the current terms on the booking site before paying.
Limitations
- Results are best-effort. We may miss routes. Not every legitimate booking route for a property will appear.
- Real-time prices are not shown. Prices and availability change. Always check the current total on the booking site.
- Terms change. Cancellation policies, fees and perks can be updated by providers at any time.
- Always verify on the booking site before paying, including the final total, cancellation terms, payment conditions and site legitimacy.
Affiliate links
Some routes on JustBooking may use affiliate links. If you click and book, JustBooking may earn a commission from the booking partner. This does not determine whether a route appears or how it is ranked. We aim to show legitimate booking routes regardless of affiliate relationship.
